The Old Kitchen
The restaurant: new life for an old barn
The restaurant is located in the old barn that used to house thirty cows until 1973.
Refurbishing work has maintained the original eight-column structure and even left the feeding-trough in place.
The wooden tables, carpenter’s benches, and the tools and maps on the south wall tell the story of a time when farming was a way of life with strong customs and traditions, and a love of nature, and a passion for hard work.
FLAVOURS ON THE PLATE AND IN THE GLASS
We specialise in typical Veneto cuisine and our menus feature whatever the season has to offer, with dishes invented by our chef to bring out the full flavour of the ingredients.
Our speciality is fresh home-made pasta: maccheroni, ravioli, tagliatelle and gnocchi.
During the cold season, you will find pasta and beans, tripe, marinated sardines, stew with potatoes and vegetable soups.
From March to September, we offer salads with fresh vegetables grown in the nearby villages. For us, cooking with local produce is an everyday practice.
At the bar in the inn, you can whet your appetite with a wide range of “cicchetti” (snacks including cheeses, cold cuts, anchovies and stockfish), perfect for an aperitif, lunch or dinner.
A good glass of first class wine never goes amiss. With this in mind, we have picked a number of wineries offering typical local wines, including prosecco, an excellent wine to enjoy while relaxing, along with our dishes.
This is the story we want to tell.
This is the spirit with which we welcome you to Casa dei Racconti.
